Frequently asked questions
What is a Basket Brigade?
The International Basket Brigade is a 100% volunteer-run program dedicated to feeding those in need by providing baskets of donated food and household items. The program is built on a simple notion: One small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds.
Can I get a basket?
The spirit of the basket brigade is to deliver these gifts anonymously. We work with local organizations like churches and public schools to help identify families that will receive your baskets. Make sure to find out the family size and any known health restrictions. Hold community donation drives to gather food and household items. Historically our list of those in need has exceeded the number of baskets we have to give and therefore we simply don't have enough baskets to give to everyone that asks. If you are in need we can add you to our overflow list by clicking here in hopes that we have overflow but it doesn't guarantee a basket by any means.
Please share our event on social media. The more volunteers we have the more baskets we have to give. It costs nothing to share and promote this event so we humbly ask that you help us grow.
How do I donate?
Donate Money- Venmo @htxbasket or www.venmo.com/HTXbasket
Donate Time- come to our event to help deliver baskets and/or message the Facebook page that you would like to assemble baskets the night before.

Donate Basket- Drop your baskets off prior to the event.. email Info@HTXbasketbrigade.com to arrange time, place, etc.
Are you a 501c(3)
NO- we are not. This is a grassroots organization and 100% volunteer run, 100% of what is donated is put into building the baskets and organizing this one event.
How can I help before the delivery day?
We need people to help is look for shopping deals, organize and most of all promote the event. Helping people is contagious and the more you help us spread the word the more impact we have in the community. If you want to help prior to message us on Facebook
What about parking?
You are only going to be at the meeting spot for a brief time. We meet, build some baskets together, game plan on the delivery, and then break apart to go out into the city and deliver. McIntrye's has graciously offered their parking facilities for our use pro-bono.
